Cristian Chivu is back in his home country representing Inter for tomorrow’s Europa League tie with Cluj. “It’s my first game against a Romanian side, so I am a little emotional.”

The defender spoke with Coach Andrea Stramaccioni at the Press conference ahead of the second leg, to be played at 18.00 GMT.

“It is an important match and obviously our objective is to qualify, though we certainly won’t say that after winning the first leg 2-0 the tie is all over,” said Chivu.

“I am ready to play, but only after today’s training session will we know if I’m 100 per cent fit. Cluj are a good side, which was clear in the Champions League, so we are not underestimating them.

“It’s my first game against a Romanian side, so I am a little emotional. This is a special game for me,” he confessed.

There are question marks over the line-up in Romania, considering Inter face arch rivals Milan in Serie A on Sunday evening.

“We’ll try to give a breather to those who need it. It might be a little difficult considering the injury problems we have, but I am sure we’ll be able to play both games at the top level.

“Would I prefer to qualify for the next round of the Europa League or win the Derby against Milan? I’d prefer both!”
