The Aquile earned a 2-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, securing qualification 5-3 on aggregate in the Europa League.
“We had a bad night at Siena where we conceded straight away, but this was a very different game,” said the Coach of their 3-0 Serie A defeat on Monday night.
“I saw the right attitude on the field for the full 90 minutes. The Germans fought to the end, but we were disciplined and clinical when making the most of our scoring opportunities.”
The Biancocelesti play the first leg of the Round of 16 in Stuttgart on March 7, while the decider at the Olimpico is on March 14.
It will be the opportunity for a reunion, as Stuttgart now have Lazio youth product Federico Macheda in their ranks.
