Massimiliano Allegri warns the Derby della Madonnina will be very different to beating Barcelona and hopes Mario Balotelli doesn’t “fall into the trap of provocation.”

The Rossoneri are the favourites going in after their 2-0 Champions League victory against the Blaugrana.

“Wednesday was a wonderful night and the lads deserved their win that allows us to go to Spain with a slight advantage,” Allegri told Milan Channel.

“Now we must focus on the Derby, an important game where we’ll try to leave our opponents behind us in the table.

Inter will be eager to make up for recent results, but I hope my players can give us all something to cheer about. It would be a gift for all Rossoneri, from the fans to the President.

“Derbies are traditionally balanced encounters and there are no favourites. In recent years individual incidents have often been decisive.”

Milan showed a defensive masterclass against Barcelona, but will take a more attacking approach against Inter tomorrow evening.

“It will be a completely different game to Barcelona and we must interpret it differently too. I still have a few doubts over my line-up and will make a decision today.

“We will have Antonio Nocerino back, but not Mathieu Flamini or Giampaolo Pazzini.”

Balotelli is cup-tied, so returns after dancing in the stands during the win over Barcelona and faces his former club for the first time since leaving in 2010.

“This will be a test of Balotelli’s maturity and he must do well not to fall into the trap of provocation,” noted Coach Allegri.

“He is a decisive player and must learn how to keep calm.”
