Palermo have incredibly fired Alberto Malesani after just three games in charge to call back Gian Piero Gasperini.

The rumours had been in the air after last night’s 0-0 draw with Genoa left them propping up the table.

This evening the Rosanero released a statement confirming Malesani had been removed from his post and Gasperini recalled.

Malesani was only at the helm for three games, drawing all of them.

“We have regret considering Malesani is a good person and an excellent Coach. We thank him for his efforts,” read the statement.

“The decision made seems to be the only one to take in this difficult moment.”

Palermo had started the season with Giuseppe Sannino, but sacked him in September to bring in Gasperini.

He too was axed on February 4, but Gasp has now been recalled after Malesani had just three rounds to make a difference.
