Vladimir Petkovic criticised Lazio for “not believing enough” in their 2-0 home defeat to Fiorentina.

“The problem is that tonight we didn’t believe enough in this game. We had several chances, including many in the final stages, but didn’t take them,” said the Coach.

“Fiorentina were clinical, fought harder than we did and deserved the victory. I can explain some of it, but we ought to have more faith in our capabilities.

“There is a long way to go yet. It’s a shame, as we could’ve closed up, but we’re not the only team with a few difficulties at the moment.”

Once again, the Biancocelesti have lost their Serie A match after a Europa League triumph.

“I don’t want to use the Europa League as an excuse. Of course that is part of it, but players of this level must put the effort in for every single game against any opponent.

“We also conceded two avoidable goals, as the opener was similar to the one we let in at the Stadio Franchi. Even without playing particularly well, we still had our chances, and just lacked that energy that comes with belief.”

Andre Dias and Stefan Radu were spotted arguing at one point in the penalty area when defending from a corner.

“We paid three times against Borussia Monchengladbach with penalties and need to learn how to mark set plays with less grappling.”

Andre Dias had given away three spot-kicks in Monchengladbach, earning two yellow cards.
