Angelo Palombo has admitted that he’d like to end his career with Sampdoria after breaking back into the side.

The veteran midfielder was frozen out of the set-up initially this term until Delio Rossi replaced Ciro Ferrara in the hotseat.

“My objective is to finish my playing days at this club,” he noted. “However, seeing as what has happened in the past, it’s better to not speak too soon.”

The 31-year-old joined Doria in 2002. He stayed loyal to the club following their relegation in 2011, but was then loaned to Inter in January 2012 for six months.

Palombo has also won 22 international caps with Italy. “A return in Azzurro? I’m old, but it would be nice…”

His last game for his country came in a 2-0 defeat against the Republic of Ireland in a June 2011 friendly.
