Genoa defender Daniele Portanova has refused to apologise after causing Giampaolo Pazzini’s injury. “It’s only a pity for those players who aren’t famous.”

Portanova went through the back of Pazzini during Milan’s 2-0 win over Genoa and tests showed a micro-fracture to the fibula.

It was an injury that ruled him out for a month and forced Pazzini to miss the Champions League trip to Barcelona.

“It’s a shame he got injured after a perfectly normal challenge, but that is a closed book for me now,” Portanova told Sky Sport Italia.

“This whole story is only a pity for those players who, at the end of the day, are not famous.”

The defender had previously accused Pazzini of being “famous, but weak and not very courageous.”
