Walter Mazzarri explains why he left Edinson Cavani on the bench, enjoyed Napoli’s 5-3 victory and insists “money isn’t important” in his contract renewal.

Blerim Dzemaili got a hat-trick and Cavani netted a late brace in the spectacular 5-3 win away to Torino this evening.

“I am happy when we play well, that is the important thing,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I make my choices and I don’t care what anyone else says. I saw other players who were in better shape after international duty and we caused Torino problems.

“I told Cavani that I wanted him fresh for the second half, as if he had started then he’d have lost sharpness towards the end. He understood my logic and reacted exactly the way I hoped he would.”

It was a crazy game that saw Napoli twice go in front, then fall 3-2 down before Cavani’s late double.

“We have 11 more points than at this stage last season and have improved, even if we often make life difficult for ourselves,” continued Mazzarri.

“A mature team would’ve gone 2-0 up and controlled the game, but we’re not there yet. Let us enjoy this moment, as only Juventus” data-scaytid=”32″>Juventus are ahead of us and they’ve got six more points than at this stage last term when they won the Scudetto.”

The tactician’s contract runs out in June and he is still refusing to discuss an extension.

“We’ll wait to the end of the season to decide. I am in sync with the President and we are very open with each other. At this moment money is the least important thing for me.”
