Inter director Piero Ausilio confirmed their interest in Catania forward Alejandro Gomez. “He’d be an important player to build on for the future.”

The Argentine, nicknamed Papu, had already been in negotiations for a transfer last summer and again in January.

“There was a lot of talk about Gomez last year, but you all saw how it ended,” commented Ausilio ahead of today’s game against Parma.

“Of course he’d be an important player to build on for the future, but it is still too early to talk about that.”

Fans are looking to next term, as they are out of the Europa League, the Coppa Italia and struggling to qualify for Europe in Serie A.

“Right now the club demands that everyone give their best in the final stage of the season. We want them to prove that they belong at Inter.

“We have already begun with a new era, but it takes time. We restart from these players who have great potential, while others will join them this summer and Inter will be back to being the great side we all know.”
