David Luiz gave Chelsea a 2-1 win with the last kick of the game in Basel, while Fenerbahce were in tears after beating Benfica 1-0 in the Europa League semi-final first legs.

Chelsea scraped a 2-1 victory in Switzerland, as Victor Moses opened the scoring by deflecting in a Frank Lampard corner after 12 minutes.

Both sides rattled the woodwork before the 85th minute, when the referee awarded an extremely soft penalty that Fabian Schar converted through the middle.

With the last kick of the game, David Luiz side-footed a free kick through the poor defensive wall and in at the far bottom corner.

There were emotional scenes in the other semi-final first leg, as Fenerbahce squeezed past Benfica 1-0 in Istanbul.

Gokhan Gonul was brought down on the stroke of half-time, but Cristian’s penalty hit the upright. He was inconsolable and left the field in floods of tears as his teammates tried to reassure him.

Moussa Sow, Dirk Kuyt and Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan hit the woodwork before Fenerbahce finally broke through with Egeman Korkmaz nodding in from a corner.
