The game at the Stadio Menti was suspended for 29 minutes after home fans staged a pitch invasion, sitting on the side of the field and refusing to leave.
They were protesting the disastrous result that saw Empoli go 5-1 up before half-time, but negotiations with the players eventually saw them return to the stands. Vicenza drop are in the bottom three and risk relegation.
