Daniele Gastaldello has warned Sampdoria teammate Mauro Icardi that life will be tough at Inter next season.

The Argentine striker is set to move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this summer after catching the eye at Marassi.

“It won’t be easy for him,” the club captain told Il Secolo XIX. “Here at Sampdoria we have all given him a helping hand.

“Sampdoria are a family who do not abandon you, but when you are at a big club then nobody will wait for you,” he added.

“If you get a few games wrong then there is always somebody ready to take your place in the team. You then have to sit on the bench and, instead of progressing, you go backwards…”

The former Barcelona youth, still just 20, scored 10 goals in 31 games for Doria over the course of the campaign.
