Nicolas Andre Burdisso is a veteran of Rome derbies and insists Roma “have the right mentality to lift the Coppa Italia.”

The defender was in today’s Press conference next to Coach Aurelio Andreazzoli ahead of the Final with Lazio” data-scaytid=”11″>Lazio on Sunday at 17.00 UK time.

“There has been the right level of tension this week, the one you need to prepare for a Final. We’ve been working hard for a while and have the right mentality to lift the Coppa Italia.

“I came here to Roma in order to win something and to give joy to these fans who are so passionate about football. It can be a joyous occasion for all of us.”

Burdisso experienced both Roma’s five consecutive victories in the derby and their current run of one point from five meetings with Lazio.

“These things can happen. We didn’t win five in a row because of a fluke, as we fought hard to earn those results, then Lazio won three on the trot with many red cards and incidents going against us.

“I think we are talking about a completely different derby now, as this is an historic Final. That’s how we see it and I imagine Lazio feel the same way. Tomorrow will be a very different match to the ones we experienced before.

“We know Lazio’s strengths, particularly with Miroslav Klose, and prepared the game based on our style and how we can hurt them.”

The Biancocelesti spent the week in a pre-match training camp in Norcia, far away from the media circus in the Capital.

“We didn’t need to isolate ourselves. In fact, we are using this atmosphere in a positive way,” assured Burdisso.

“We know what we are playing for tomorrow and what the last three or four seasons have been like. We know this is an historic game and all of that is helping us to prepare more positively.

“I hope it can be Daniele De Rossi’s match. Clearly he is Roman and feels this appointment more strongly than anyone else. Francesco Totti also has his history in this fixture…

“It would be a wonderful moment to give the joy we are all waiting for. I think more than ever it will be a game for the whole team working to bring the result home.

“It would also be different from all the other matches because after four years of talking about winning, we finally have the chance to do it. This is a game that the whole world is watching and for me that goes beyond how many points we picked up in Serie A.”

There are reports the Lazio and Roma ultras made a pact to avoid violent clashes tomorrow, but the Biancocelesti revealed some of their players received threatening phone calls this morning.

“That’s a real shame and is precisely what shouldn’t happen,” commented Burdisso. “I hope this can be a great festival, before and after the game, regardless of the result.”
