After Indonesian billionaire Erick Thohir tweeted that Inter is “not a toy,” rumours suggest Massimo Moratti is hesitant about selling.

Thohir has offered anything from €260m to €300m – plus another €100m to plough directly into the transfer market – in order to buy a commanding share in the club.

It’s reported President Moratti was given a one-week deadline to make a decision. It would be a huge boost for the side, which currently runs at a loss of around €90m per year.

However, according to Tuttosport, Moratti is concerned that Thohir will invest heavily in Inter only to then drop the club if he becomes bored, leaving them in a similar situation to Malaga with Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani.

This is why the current patron wants a new stadium written into the contract so that Inter will have something tangible to fall back on if the tap is turned off.

Fans are also concerned, but Thohir addressed this on Twitter this morning when retweeting a message from a supporter.

“@erickthohir for FC Internazionale. It takes passion and seriousness. Not a toy! #amala”

The hashtag #amala is a reference to the Inter club anthem about loving the team through thick and thin.
