Rudi Garcia already has his priorities set out for Roma. “We want to get back into Europe and beat Lazio in the derby.”

The French Coach signed a two-year contract and is busy preparing for his debut Serie A season.

“I don’t speak Italian yet, but I understand almost everything, as I speak Spanish,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I know it is very important to express yourself in the home language for various reasons. You’ll see that I will be fluent soon.

“There is a lot of work to do and we are already at it with Walter Sabatini and Frederic Massara. I know the team, but have to move over as soon as possible to plan out the season, starting from summer training.

“As I said at my presentation in New York, I am a faithful person. I hope to stay at Roma for a long time, just as I did at Lille.”

Garcia may be new to Italian football, but he already knows what Giallorossi supporters care most about.

“I know the people first of all expect Roma to get back into Europe. That is a fundamental step and we will achieve it. I am certain we’ll be back in the cup competitions soon, though I am also coming here to try to win a trophy.

“I know how much the derby means in Rome and that the most important thing for the fans is to beat Lazio. I am fully aware of how much weight those results carry for the Giallorossi supporters. We will not lose.

“I will see you soon. Forza Roma. In fact, forza Magica Roma.”
