Abel Hernandez’s four goals helped Uruguay to the Confederations Cup semi-final, but he’s looking forward to helping Palermo out of Serie B.

The striker netted four as his side crushed Tahiti 8-0, sending them through as runners-up behind Spain in Group B.

They face Brazil in the semi-final in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The striker netted four as his side crushed Tahiti 8-0, sending them through as runners-up behind Spain in Group B.

Although he has been repeatedly linked with moves to bigger clubs, including some in the Premier League, Hernandez is adamant he’ll play in Serie B next season.

“I read so many messages of affection from Palermo fans after my goals,” wrote Abel Hernandez on the official Palermo website.

“I wanted to truly thank them for their support, as they continue to be very close to me, as they always have been.

“I too hope to contribute to Palermo’s great revival.”

Hernandez missed most of the 2012-13 campaign with a serious knee injury he suffered while on international duty with Uruguay in October.
