“We are a long way off, as we have had talks, but only at an informal stage,” Udinese director Giaretta told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“There have been some phone calls and some chats, but nothing official. The transfer market has just opened and anything could happen.
“Could they buy half of Candreva from Udinese to then negotiate with Lazio? It could be a valid strategy.”
Candreva caught the eye of many top clubs during the Confederations Cup and has also been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham.
