There are growing reports that Arsenal are preparing a £10.3m bid for Milan full-back Ignazio Abate.

The 26-year-old had already been the subject of an offer from Zenit St Petersburg in January, but the Rossoneri turned it down.

According to MilanNews.it Arsene Wenger has set his sights firmly on Abate, who had to interrupt his Confederations Cup campaign due to a dislocated shoulder.

Abate’s position is in doubt because his contract expires in June 2014 and no renewal has been worked out yet.

The Gunners hope to convince Milan into a sale by offering €12m – around £10.3m – for the versatile figure who can play full-back or wing-back.
