“I’ve decided to stay here,” he told Il Secolo XIX. “I want to win a place at the World Cup in Brazil by wearing the Genoa shirt.

“I said after the League game against Inter that I didn’t want to leave and I can confirm that today too.

“I will still be playing for Genoa in the 2013-14 campaign.”

The left-back, 26, is a former Milan youngster who moved to Bari in 2007 before a switch to Parma just six months later.

Antonelli appeared in 33 games for the Grifone last term, scoring one goal in the process.

He missed the Confederations Cup campaign because of a shin injury.
