Gomez breaks Fiorentina duck

Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi both scored braces as Fiorentina crushed Cremonese 7-1 in a friendly.

The Viola continued their impressive pre-season performances this evening against the Lega Pro side.

Former Bayern Munich striker Gomez broke his duck with two goals in the first half, pouncing on the rebound from a Massimo Ambrosini shot and getting on the end of a Facundo Roncaglia cross.

The German international also hit the woodwork with a backheel flick.

Adem Ljajic finished off a well-worked counter-attack, Ahmed Hegazy’s angled drive was on target and Oleksander Iakovenko chested in a corner.

Rossi converted a penalty and finished off a strong Juan Cuadrado move for his double. Brighenti scored the only goal for Cremonese on 71 minutes.
