Roma to begin Totti negotiations

Roma will start talks with Francesco Totti’s representatives this week to discuss a new contract for the club symbol.

The Roman has less than a year left on his present terms in the capital seeing as his deal will expire in June 2014.

The two parties are keen to prolong their relationship, but there seems to be an initial difference of opinion.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the almost 37-year-old will accept a reduced salary of €3.5m a season, but he wants a two-year contract in return.

Roma, it is being claimed, would rather hand him a fresh 12-month agreement.

The Corriere adds that Roma director general Mauro Baldissoni will make contact with Totti and Co at some stage over the next seven days.
