Hugo Campagnaro has praised former club Napoli for the capture of his Argentine international colleague Gonzalo Higuain.

“Napoli have signed a champion,” the defender, who left Naples for Inter this summer, commented after Argentina’s 2-1 win over Italy.

“He is a player who has done well at whichever club he has been at and I’ve spoken to him about the enthusiasm of the fans in the city.

The striker, who scored one and provided the assist for Argentina’s second last night, moved to Serie A from Real Madrid for a fee in the region of €37m.

Higuain has been netted as a replacement for Edinson Cavani after the Uruguayan international was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for €64.5m.
