Fiorentina are set to renew their bid for PSG midfielder Marco Verratti after David Pizarro’s serious injury.

The Chilean suffered a lesion to the thigh muscle while on international duty this week and more tests will be needed, but it’s feared he could be out for at least a couple of months.

According to Tuttosport, this has prompted the Viola to resume their attempts to prise Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old Italy international confirmed there was an approach, but that negotiations never really developed.

That situation could change, as Fiorentina are ready and waiting to pounce on any issues in Paris.

There are other problems in Florence too, as Adem Ljajic, his family and agent should meet with the club over the next few days to discuss his contract.

Either he renews the deal – which currently expires in June 2014 – or Ljajic will be sold this summer. His price-tag is at least €10m and Fiorentina would prefer a move abroad to avoid strengthening rivals Milan.
