Francesco Guidolin acknowledges Udinese have a mountain to climb in the Europa League play-off with Slovan Liberec.

The Friuli fell to a shock 3-1 home defeat in the first leg and try to turn that around in the Czech Republic. It kicks off on Thursday at 18.00 UK time (17.00 GMT).

“For the Europa League we are gambling it all in one night, but the season has just begun and we hope to continue being competitive on different fronts,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Clearly with the first leg result we got ourselves in trouble and need a real achievement to get through. I think for any team it would be a difficult task, even a top club.

“We will try our best and I asked the team above all to play a good game. I want a performance of intensity, generosity and solidity. We’ll give it our all and then see what happens.

“In 40 years of my career I’ve never been called upon to overturn a result like that. Slovan Liberec did very well to put themselves in the position of favourites.

“We must play with balance, because without that this team risks becoming over-run. We mustn’t make the mistake of getting caught up in a frenetic approach. Start hard, fast and courageous, but without haste.”

Udinese have had a terrible start to the season, losing 3-1 to Slovan Liberec and 2-1 in Serie A against Lazio” data-scaytid=”23″>Lazio.

“What happened? We conceded two or three goals and in these cases you usually lose,” shrugged Guidolin.

“The fault does not only lie with the defence. When we attack and defend everyone has to be involved.”
