Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Montella cast his eye over the Scudetto contenders, Kaka’s return and why Adem Ljajic can become a champion.

The Viola Coach sat down with the Corriere dello Sport for a wide-ranging interview on the scenarios in Serie A this season.

“We all hoped Juventus” data-scaytid=”11″>Juventus would feel a bit sated after two consecutive titles, but they proved that a winning mentality never goes into stand-by mode. They also have a strong squad to count on and Carlos Tevez represents the ideal player for any Coach. He has so much determination that he never needs to look hard for motivation.

“Is Antonio Conte an example for young Coaches? Perhaps yes, even if to be a modern manager he should be told when books have to be balanced, whereas I saw he can get a little… angry.”

This was in reference to Conte’s outburst in a Press conference, complaining he did not want Alessandro Matri and Emanuele Giaccherini to be sold.

Montella also turned to the other title contenders who have revamped over the summer.

Napoli bet on a modern Coach, Rafa Benitez, and the team immediately played good football. Gonzalo Higuain is a guarantee, while Marek Hamsik is a genetically perfect and technically very strong player who controls the tactical system. He is the person every team needs, the ideal player.

“Massimiliano Allegri is certainly one of the tacticians I am most inspired by. He responds on the field with great calm to the difficulties he often has to deal with. He sets an example,” continued Montella.

“Mario Balotelli always gives me the impression he’s playing with the handbrake on. He is often decisive, but I feel he can do more. Kaka? He was a nostalgic signing.”

Fiorentina missed out on third place in Serie A last season by a handful of minutes, but have strengthened with Mario Gomez, Joaquin, Massimo Ambrosini and more.

“We started out from the club’s orders, which were to build a team capable of entertaining the fans with good football,” explained Montella.

“This year we finished off that work by seeking elements that were necessary for the step up in quality. The problem with Mario Gomez is that he’s too generous. Against Genoa when we were 3-0 up, I’d never have tried to set up my teammate for a goal…”

Fiorentina sold Ljajic to Roma after months of confusion over his contract, which had been set to expire in June 2014.

“Bringing in Ljajic for Erik Lamela made sense economically for Roma. I was not surprised by his goal on his Giallorossi debut against Verona. Adem is a good player who can become a champion. He just has to figure out how to control himself, so he doesn’t become a promise who never delivered.

“Francesco Totti is Roma’s strength and its limitation, as the whole team often hides itself behind him and his quality.

“I am convinced Daniele De Rossi will end his career at Roma. If he hasn’t cut the umbilical cord yet with all the difficulties, then I doubt he ever will.”
