Fabio Liverani admits Genoa “gifted” Napoli two goals and isn’t confident amid reports Gian Piero Gasperini will return.

The Grifone were beaten 2-0 at home by Napoli today, as Goran Pandev scored an early brace.

“We gifted them two goals. It becomes tough for anyone if you gift Napoli a two-goal advantage that early,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“However, the responsibility is mine and I take that. In the second half we tried to play in a more attacking way. We signed wingers, so we’ll play with wingers.

“I had changed system before the Genoa Derby to give more certainty, but this time we were facing a Napoli side that is fighting for the Scudetto.”

There are already reports that Gasperini will be recalled to the Genoa bench, as President Enrico Preziosi looked furious in the stands at the final whistle.

“The club must make its decisions without pressure. I haven’t spoken to the President yet, but we will talk after the Press conference.”
