The Argentine is a forgotten member of Atleti’s senior squad, having struggled for playing time since arriving at the club last January from Sporting CP.

His situation is such that rumours in Italy suggest that Inter are in line to make a move this midseason, as they look for cover on the left-wing.

However, the 24-year-old’s representative has suggested that the player’s intention is only to see out his current contract at the Vicente Calderon, which runs until June 2016.

“There has been no contact with Inter, these are just rumours,” Maximiliano Insua, who is also the player’s brother, told Calciomercato.com.

“Emiliano is very happy at Atletico Madrid and has a long contract there. The season is going great in general, whilst a bit less so at an individual level.

“He is playing little, but his only thought is to train well and to fight for a place in the team.”

It is not the first time that Insua has been linked with a switch to Serie A.

“Then, Galatasaray presented the best offer for his club Liverpool and so Emiliano went to Turkey.”
