Cagliari are reportedly threatening to go on strike unless the Stadio Sant’Elia is re-opened.

The team has been playing its home games at the Stadio Nereo Rocco in Trieste for the past few months, as the Is Arenas was torn down and the Sant’Elia remains shut after failing security checks.

The club struck a deal with the local council to work together on restructuring the Sant’Elia a month ago, but this has been repeatedly delayed.

On Thursday the council demanded more paperwork to consider opening the stadium to even just 5,000 fans.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the Cagliari players are so tired of the situation that they are threatening to go on strike.

Their next home game is against Catania on Saturday October 19 and at this point it looks likely to be moved to Trieste again.
