Luigi Di Biagio has reflected that he believes Italy can still qualify for the 2015 European Under-21 Championships from top spot in their group.
The Azzurrini had begun their campaign to try to get to the finals to be held in the Czech Republic on the back foot, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Belgium in September.
However, yesterday evening saw them bounce back with a 1-0 win in Genk over the same team and move up to second in Group 9, six points behind the Belgians but having played two games fewer.

The result and performance on Monday evening left the Italians’ tactician in optimistic mood.
“We knew it would be a tough game here,” reflected Di Biagio afterwards.
“We have been able to manage the game, I’m happy with the performance of the boys and I congratulate them.
“The difference in this game was that in addition to the advantage we had, we controlled the match well and also went close to doubling our lead.
“Qualification now? I have always believed that we can finish first in the group, although currently we are not and we still have work to do.”
