De Rossi ignores Scudetto stat

Daniele De Rossi is paying no attention to the Scudetto statistic which has put Roma in pole position to win the championship.

The Giallorossi made it eight wins from eight with a 2-0 over Napoli on Friday night – matching the achievements of Juventus 1930-31, 1985-86 and 2005-06. The Old Lady went on to win the title on all three occasions.

“That happened some time ago and the championship is a lot more competitive now,” the Italian told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “We can’t start dreaming at Week 8…

“Boss Rudi Garcia is always giving the example of Atletico Madrid who have won eight in a row, but won’t necessarily go on and win the Liga.

“We need to think about us, who once won 11 games on the trot but still ended that season in fifth place.

“If we continue like this then we can have our say at the highest levels.

“But we still haven’t won anything yet – even if perhaps a few of the big clubs are now scared by us.”

Roma, who have scored 22 goals and conceded just one, will travel to Udinese this weekend.
