Vladimir Petkovic maintains Lazio “deserved to win” in their 1-1 draw with Milan, though they took a while to get going.

“Did we need Milan to take the lead in order for us to react? It shouldn’t be that way, but it did look like it,” confessed the Coach in his Press conference.

“We deserved to win at the end, though. I am not satisfied, as we need to face games with more determination. We allowed Milan the initiative in the first half, but the second was the complete opposite.

“Milan have a lot of quality and when they are able to play to their strengths any team will struggle against them.

“After the equaliser we improved and should’ve finished the evening with a victory. We lack that extra 10 per cent of determination away from home to win.”

Hernanes was again disappointing in midfield and substituted at half-time, fuelling reports he’s set for a January exit.

“A player alone can’t do anything if the team isn’t working well,” argued Petkovic.

“I saw Hernanes looking a little down, so I preferred to introduce Eddy Onazi and give us more pace.

“Does this result make my position more solid? I never had the feeling my bench was shaky. The team has always been with me and I with them. In the second half we saw a team that believes in the project.

“If the team had not believed, then they would not have reacted that way.”
