Fabio Cannavaro has joined the debate over Giorgio Chiellini and defended the Juventus man. “He’s not nasty.”

Chiellini has been under fire this week after fracturing Gonzalo Bergessio’s fibula, ruling the Catania striker out for at least two months.

“Sometimes Giorgio is so eager to get the ball that he goes in too hard, but he is not nasty,” assured Cannavaro on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He once did a tackle on me that forced me to miss an entire European Championship, but I repeat he is not a nasty person.”

Cannavaro also commented on the race for the Ballon d’Or and sees an end to Leo Messi’s domination.

“I’d give it to Franck Ribery, as he has all the credentials to win it.”
