Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy has reportedly turned down an offer to return to his former club Genoa.

He grew up in the Grifone youth academy and shot to fame while on loan at Padova in Serie B before earning a move to San Siro.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Genoa President Enrico Preziosi offered to bring the forward back to Marassi on loan in January.

This would give him more playing time and the chance to be closer to home, as his family is from Savona, near Genoa.

However, the same report claims El Shaarawy turned down the opportunity, as he wants to stay and fight for his place at Milan.
