Eugenio Corini says he did turn down a number of other job offers before deciding to return as Chievo boss.

The former midfielder was appointed midway through last season and did enough to keep the Flying Donkeys in the top flight.

However, he left during the summer before being recalled this week following the dismissal of Giuseppe Sannino.

“It’s true, I did have other proposals,” Corini noted. “But, in the end, I decided to go for Chievo. This is a club who tell you things to your face, where you can have a confrontation in a serious manner.

“Also, I will never forget what President Luca Campedelli did for me while I was a player here.

“I had suffered a serious injury and he told me to take all the time I needed to make a return to action.”

The Stadio Bentegodi outfit are bottom of the table. Corini’s first game in charge this term will be the derby against Verona once the international break is over.
