Cesare Prandelli believes Italy did well in their friendly draw and cannot “think we can dominate Germany.”

Ignazio Abate’s first Azzurri goal earned a 1-1 result at San Siro after Mats Hummels had nodded in the opener.

“In my view we played a good game. We suffered a little with their passing, as they played without strikers so it was tough at the start to figure out how to approach them,” Prandelli told Rai Sport.

“It was a corner and clearly we have to improve a lot, especially on set plays.”

He substituted Dani Osvaldo with Antonio Candreva, leaving Mario Balotelli as lone striker.

“We wanted numerical superiority in midfield, it worked and we had around 20 very strong minutes in which we had the opportunities to win.

“Mario did well. He needs to relax, stay calm and not get irritated.

“Germany are one of the strongest sides in the world. If we think that we’re the best and can dominate Germany, then we’re wrong.”

The Coach also criticised those members of the crowd who jeered the German anthem.

“We started applauding the anthem and the majority followed us. It’s the only way to continue.”
