Defender Rami arrived this month on loan from Valencia, though he can’t play in competitive games until January.

Bryan Cristante’s header thumped the woodwork and Young Boys took the lead moments later with Nuzzolo’s fierce volley under the bar.

Cristian Zaccardo was brought down for a penalty which Kaka got wrong, but the Brazilian got the equaliser on the rebound.

It seemed to wake Massimiliano Allegri’s men up and they took control. M’Baye Niang provided the assists for both Riccardo Saponara and Cristante.

Alessandro Matri’s poor form continued, as he hit the woodwork and forced some tough saves.
