The former Lille Coach has become a Serie A sensation, topping the table after a record opening 10 consecutive victories.

“Would I like to be the France manager? What I’d like is for Didier Deschamps to win on Tuesday and qualify France for the World Cup,” Garcia told media in his homeland.

“I am very happy at Roma and as far as I am concerned I treat Roma as if I’ll be there forever.”

The questions were raised after Les Bleus lost the first leg of the World Cup play-offs 2-0 to Ukraine.

“I saw this depressed atmosphere in France, but I believe we can overturn the result and reach the tournament in Brazil.

“Those who step on to the field need to remember we are France and they are wearing the Bleus jersey. The support of the people is also needed, as everyone has to believe.”
