The Bulgarians qualified top of Group B thanks to five victories and a draw, scoring 11 goals and conceding just two.

They knocked out PSV Eindhoven and Dinamo Zagreb, but will face the Biancocelesti in the Round of 32.

“This team should be approached carefully. It could’ve been worse, but Ludogorets play at a fast tempo and have many foreign players,” Coach Petkovic told Lazio Style Radio.

“They do not have the same international experience as we do, but have quality players who already made life very difficult for other top teams.

“We are the favourites, even if they are sure to give 100 per cent in order to impress against an Italian club.”

If Lazio do progress, they will meet either Dinamo Kiev or Valencia in the Round of 16.

“I wouldn’t talk about them yet, let us take one step at a time. Dinamo are strong, but last season we showed that we could progress far in this competition.

“At the same time, we mustn’t forget about Serie A, as in Italy studying your opponents is crucial, whereas in Europe there are more spaces.”
