“A result here would be important for our position in the table. I expect a response from the team,” said Donadoni in his Press conference.

“Sampdoria are going through a very positive period of form, so we must match or even surpass them in terms of motivation, temperament and character.

“We need to be united and confident, otherwise any technical or tactical issues become futile.”

Cassano has rediscovered his form at Parma and over the last few days there have been reports of a January move to Sampdoria – his former club.

FantAntonio won’t be running out at Marassi this afternoon, as he picked up a one-match ban, while Walter Gargano, Gabriel Paletta, Daniele Galloppa, Gianni Munari and Nicola Pavarini also miss out.

“The January transfer window is getting closer, so it’s inevitable there will be rumours. I don’t know how it will end, but what counts first and foremost is Parma. We have a squad of players who can make the difference and Cassano is one of them, but not the only one.

“We have done well even without Antonio, so I expect confirmation from whoever steps on to the field.”

Parma squad for Sampdoria: Acquah, Amauri, Bajza, Benalouane, Biabiany, Cassani, Coric, Felipe, Gobbi, Kone, Lucarelli, Marchionni, Mendes, Mesbah, Mirante, Obi, Okaka, Palladino, Parolo, Rosi, Sansone, Valdes
