The club is expected to fire him today and sue for breach of contract, while bringing in replacement Edy Reja to finish off the season.
“We had indirect contact with the President of the Italian Federation, not with Lazio,” revealed Swiss Federation President Peter Gillieron in the Corriere dello Sport.
“We have nothing to apologise for, as we acted within the rules.”
Lazio maintain they asked Petkovic whether he was in negotiations with the Swiss FA and he denied it, which could put him in breach of contract.
