While the Viola are flying high, Livorno are in penultimate place and without a win in eight rounds.

“We’ve worked well on every aspect in training, including technique and psychology,” said Nicola in his Press conference.

“We tried out several different tactical solutions and I am confident we’ll put in a good performance. Fiorentina are stronger on paper, but in football the best team doesn’t always win.

“When we cannot match them in terms of quality, we must try to get there with other means. Fiorentina have a European philosophy of football and always try to play the ball, while in attack they are very fast in the one-on-one.

“We have decided to cut our vacation short in order to work on our issues and I’m confident because I saw the effort my players put in. If Fiorentina are better, then they’re going to have to prove it on the field.”

Emerson is suspended for this game with Andrea Coda injured, but Alfred Duncan is available again in midfield.

Nicola also commented on the transfer window and the need for reinforcements.

“I already expressed my opinion to the directors. We all know what we need to complete the squad and will try to fix these problems as soon as possible.”

Livorno squad for Fiorentina: Anania, Aldegani, Bardi; Ceccherini, Decarli, Rinaudo, Valentini, Gemiti, Mbaye, Piccini; Luci, Belingheri, Greco, Biagianti, Mosquera, Duncan, Benassi, Schiattarella; Siligardi, Emeghara, Paulinho, Borja
