Thiago Silva has backed former Milan teammate Clarence Seedorf to have a positive impact, if he returns to the club as Coach.

The Dutchman is widely believed to be on his way to San Siro this week to negotiate taking the position in place of the sacked Massimiliano Allegri.

For the Rossoneri’s recent Brazilian defender, the move could prove to be wise.

“I am sorry for Milan but, if Seedorf arrives, he can do very well on the Milan bench,” Thiago Silva has told reporters this week.

“Clarence is sure to change the mentality, because he is a serious person, capable of change.

“I am sorry for the current situation.

“In Milan, when you go through a moment like that, the big players show themselves, like Honda.

“I am convinced that if Seedorf arrives, he will change something. Big players make a team great.”

The 29-year-old is 18 months into his career with Paris Saint-Germain, after a summer 2012 transfer out of Milan.

“I miss Italian football, because as a child I watched it – when I was at Milan I was delighted to be able to play in Serie A.

“I hope to be able to return to the Italian championship one day.”
