Maxime Gonalons has admitted it was ‘an honour’ to be linked with a switch to Napoli in January, but doesn’t regret staying at Lyon.

The midfielder looked to be all-set for a switch to the Partenopei last month, but a last minute change of heart from the French side saw the deal fall through.

“What happened in the last window affected me a little, but not that much,” he told RMC Sport.

“It’s a pleasure to be linked with big clubs like Napoli, but I don’t regret staying here at Lyon.

“It’s always difficult to start at a new club in the middle of the season anyway.

“Will I move in the summer? I can’t answer that now. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.”
