“As soon as Clarence Seedorf got the chance to know Poli a little better, he gave him an important chance,” Tassotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“He did very well against Bologna and is an important player who can also help us out in midfield.

“Atletico Madrid play as a team, so it’s going to be a complicated game. We must be very wary of Diego Costa and his way of creating space.”

The assistant manager to both ex-Coach Massimiliano Allegri and now Seedorf was asked whether the Dutchman’s all-attack approach would be adjusted.

“He knows that even if the result is 0-0, that still leaves qualification open for the second leg. He knows it is important not to concede a goal.

“Clarence has been working for a month introducing new players and it is not easy.”
