Di Carlo: 'Livorno not scared of Verona'

Livorno host Verona in the early kick-off and Domenico Di Carlo assured “we do not fear them.”

It starts at 11.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“Verona rather surprised everyone this season, but if we analyse the quality of the squad and their Coach, then it’s not hard to see why they are in joint sixth place.

“We respect them a great deal, but we do not fear them. I expect my players to put in an intelligent performance and to achieve safety we must be hungrier than our opponents.”

The Tuscans have certainly improved recently and earned a surprise 2-1 win away to Cagliari last week, but that game also saw them lose captain Andrea Luci for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

“We have lost the soul of the team, but we do have those capable of replacing him on the field.”

Livorno and Verona traditionally have a very strong rivalry, so there are fears of crowd trouble in this game.

“The fans must be aware this is a football match and the battle must only be on the field of play. I don’t want to think about anything else,” added Di Carlo.

Along with Luci, Livorno are also without the injured Cristian Piccini and Luca Siligardi, while Marco Benassi and Federico Ceccherini are suspended.
