Vincenzo Montella criticised his Fiorentina players for losing their heads after a 2-2 draw with Parma. “We must control ourselves.”

The Viola fought back from 2-1 down to draw at the Stadio Tardini despite Modibo Diakite’s red card, but in stoppages Borja Valero was dismissed for a scuffle with Gianni Munari.

“We could’ve finished the first half better and it’s a real shame to have lost two players,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must learn to control ourselves and be more clear-headed when dealing with certain situations. Even with 10 men and in a tough arena, the team had a great reaction to equalise.”

Fiorentina have repeatedly complained about refereeing decisions in recent weeks, including an offside Mauro Icardi goal for Inter’s 2-1 victory.

“I think there ought to be more collaboration between referees and players, as often it is the fault of the latter. We need both sides to try a little harder. We shouldn’t be adversarial, but collaborative to reach the right decisions.”

Diakitè and Borja Valero will automatically be suspended next week against Lazio” data-scaytid=”23″>Lazio, while David Pizarro also incurs a ban after his yellow card.

“I always tell the team to control these situations, but perhaps those who come from different Leagues struggle to accept the tension. The team is a little irritable and that’s understandable when feeling a few incidents have gone against them. We must try to be more collaborative and accept decisions better.

“It was a great first half performance and we had fun with our football, even if we weren’t clinical enough in the final third. We were under pressure after the break, but with tenacity snatched back a result that I think was fair.”
