Real storm Schalke, Mancini holds Mou

Gareth Bale scored twice for Real Madrid to win 6-1 away to Schalke, but Roberto Mancini’s Galatasaray held Chelsea 1-1.

The first legs of the Champions League Round of 16 are now complete with two more games this evening.

Carlo Ancelotti can already start enjoying his quarter-final status after Real Madrid demolished Schalke 6-1 in Germany.

Bale netted two great individual goals and Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo also bagged a brace each.

There was scant consolation that Schalke scored the goal of the night with a fantastic volley off the underside of the bar from ex-Milan striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

There was another Italian Coach in action tonight, as Mancini’s Galatasaray earned a 1-1 home draw with Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s men took an early lead in Istanbul with Fernando Torres turning in a Cesar Azpilicueta assist.

Galatasaray hit the woodwork in the second half with Selcuk Inan and did eventually equalise when Aurelienne Chedjou met a Wesley Sneijder corner.
