The Amaranto may be in the bottom three, but they held out very well against Rafa Benitez’s stars.

“It was a fantastic reaction from the team, especially considering last week’s defeat,” said the Coach.

“Today the lads did what they had to, trying to play their football as much as possible. In the first half we did well to keep cool heads after going behind.

“After the equaliser I will admit that I hoped we’d bring home the victory, as Napoli were tired, but we couldn’t find that crucial touch.

“It is an important point for our position in the table and our confidence, because with this spirit we can take on anyone.

“Were Napoli disappointing? Perhaps they could’ve done more, but Livorno defended very well and Francesco Bardi was also good in goal.

“It’s just a shame for Paulinho and Ishak Belfodil who had the chances to score and weren’t able to finish them off.”
