Eusebio Di Francesco is back on the Sassuolo bench after Alberto Malesani’s disastrous tenure. “I return with enthusiasm.”

The Coach had been sacked on January 30, but was recalled yesterday when replacement Malesani lost all five games in charge.

“I return with enthusiasm, as we want to achieve our target of safety,” said Di Francesco in his Press conference.

“What I want to tell the lads is that there are 12 Cup Finals from here to the end of the season. I want to bring back spirit to the squad and everyone around the club.”

The team has gone into a pre-match training camp to best prepare for Sunday’s relegation dogfight at Bologna.

“I want to get to know the new players better and try to unite the group, so a ritiro is the best way of achieving that.

“I believe the team has improved in many respects. Now I want to work on finding the right mix for this team.”

Domenico Berardi is one of their star players, but will be out for three rounds after he elbowed Cristian Molinaro just 48 seconds into his game against Parma.

“Domenico made a mistake, but it is a difficult time and we mustn’t forget he is only a kid. In this campaign he is the added bonus and we hope he can be as useful to the side as he always has been.”
