Giuseppe Rossi is “working day after day to be there for the Coppa Italia Final” Fiorentina-Napoli.

The forward has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments in early January and is in a race against time to be fit for the World Cup.

He has said he’s not thinking about that target right now, as he prefers to focus on the first step.

“I am working day after day to be there for the Coppa Italia Final on May 3 against Napoli. I don’t want to miss it,” said Rossi at an event to mark Giancarlo Antognoni’s birthday.

“Our objective is to bring the Coppa Italia back to Florence for the joy of all our fans.”

Before his injury, Pepito had seemed to find the best form of his career with the Viola, scoring 14 Serie A goals.

“Moving to Fiorentina was a step forward in my career, as here you can breathe in football and there is so much enthusiasm.

“Many champions have come through Florence and now I hope this team can give more joy to a city full of history.”
